Excerpt
Excerpt: Under the leadership of Public Printer of the United States Bruce R. James, nearly 300 librarians and information professionals from around the Nation are convening in Reno, NV, April 6-9, 2003, to map out the future of the Federal Depository Library Program (FDLP) at the Spring 2003 Conference of the Depository Library Council, an advisory body to the Public Printer. The meeting will be held at the Peppermill Hotel, 2707 South Virginia Street. There is no charge for the meeting. Administered by the U.S. Government Printing Office (GPO), the FDLP partners with approximately 1,200 libraries nationwide to provide local, no-fee public access to information produced by the Federal Government and distributed to the libraries by the GPO in print, microform, CD-ROM, and GPO’s online information service, GPO Access. Housed in public, academic, law and other libraries, Federal depository collections are used by millions of students, faculty, researchers, businesspersons, and others every yea r. The Depository Library Council is composed of 15 professionals appointed by the Public Printer who are drawn from the library and Government information communities nationwide.
