Christopher Berks has been a writer since his early twenties, though his only formally published work has been a chapter in a management science volume. He writes poetry for himself, for his wife, and has had a productive period as a member of the Catamount Lane Poets. (250 poems) He writes and illustrates (poorly?) children's books - first for his children and now for his grandchildren. (60 books) He has many boxes of his early writings in his basement. He hopes to revisit some of these sometime. As far as he remembers there are 7 rhapsodies (short novels), 1 full length play, 5 church pageants, early poems, short stories and essays. Also, in the boxes are plans and plots for all the great books he has not gotten round to writing.
Christopher Berks (1938-) was educated at East Barnet Grammar School in North London and St. Johns College, Cambridge. Most of his working life was spent with a famous computing company that brought him to the United States where he has lived since 1971. Although he has been writing since his early twenties he has been very adept at finding distractions to occupy his spare time. Such activities as President and Head Coach of a youth soccer club, web design for non-profit organisations, Executive Director of a musical theater company, Producing Artistic Director of the amateur theater group "Bare Stages". He performed with both these groups. Now retired, he lives in Bennington, Vermont. He occasionally blogs at chrisberks.net
