PREFACE A cumulative handbook of the resolutions and decisions of the Health Assembly and the Executive Board has been published at intervals since 1952. The first definitive edition - Volume I of this Handbook of Resolutions and Decisions, published in 1973 - covered the years 1948-1972. This sixth edition of Volume I1 is planned as the second definitive edition, covering the years 1973-1984; like its predecessors, it brings up to date the material published in the previous fifth edition, published in 1983, which it supersedes. A system of cross-references links the various sections, as appropriate, to the corresponding sections of Volume I. Since many of the resolutions deal with more than one subject, or more than one aspect of a subject, difficulties of classification have been encountered. An attempt has been made to meet these by means of cross-references and footnotes; further information can be obtained from the indexes to the two volumes. The subject index is supplemented, in each case, by a numerical index listing the page, or pages, on which the full text, or substance, of each resolution is to be found.
