1. ------------ The meeting was convened by the Regional Office f o r Europe of the World Health Organization i n Udine, I t a l y from 28 t o 30 may 1982. The meeting was d i r e c t l y r e l a t e d t o the nine previous working groups held almost each year since 1974, t o review methodology, progress and future perspectives i n a number of p i l o t a r e a s e s t a b l i s h e d for the development of community cardiovascular d i s e a s e c o n t r o l programmes. The meeting was opened by O r Leparski, Director DPC of the Regional Office f o r Europe of WHO on behalf of the Regional D i r e c t o r , by Mr G. Renzulli, Regional Minister of Health of Region F r i u l i Venezia-Giulia and by Mr G. C a t t a r o n i , President of the Local Health Unit of Udine. M r Costante Degan, I t a l i a n Minister of Health, brought the welcome and the a p p r e c i a t i o n of the I t a l i a n CentraL Government. Or Leparski, greeted t h e p a r t e c i p a n t s , outlined the s u c c e s s o f CCCCP in North Karelia and elsewhere and s t r e s s e d the need t o move the CCCCP a c t i v i t i e s i n t o the I n t e g r a t e d Community Control Programmes of Non-Communicable Diseases (NCD). Prof. Feruglio was e l e c t e d chairman, Prof, Heine vice-chairman and Prof. Menotti rapporteur. D r . Zaitsev, Regional O f f i c e r f o r Chronic Diseases acted as s e c r e t a r y .
