1.INTRODUCTION The Fourth Intercountry Meeting on the Prevention and Control of HIV Infection and AIDS was held in Kuwait, from 14-16 February 1990, immediately after the Third International conference on AIDS in Kuwait, 12-14 February 1990. The purpose of the meeting was to exchange experiences concerning national epidemiological patterns of HIV/AIDs, and to discuss recent developments concerning intervention strategies and approaches for the prevention and control of HIV/AIDs. Since several intervention approaches for HIV/AIDs were dealt with in the Third International Conference on AIDS, only selected strategies were covered in this meeting. The development of a Regional approach for the prevention of Hfv/AIDS-related discriminatioh was a major focus of the meeting.
