The Mission is impressed by the achievements in the drug field in Sri Lanka since 1985 (refer AM~X4) . Thc Cosmetics, Devices and Drug Act was introduced and regulations have been notified sincc 1985. A National List of Essential Drugs (NLED) has been established at different levels of health care. Procurement, storage and distribution systems have been establishcd. Drug Committees have been formed at public health institutions. Treatment schedules have been developed, and a quality contml laboratory has been functioning. The Sri Lanka Prescriber and the Drug Information Bulletin provide information on some topics to prescribers though not on a regular basis. In spite of these achievements, there is mom for improvement in the implementation of Drug Policy, particularly in thc ficld of monitoring and supervision.
