1. Introduction The meeting of the Technical Advisory Group (TAG) of the WHO Division of Diarrhoea1 and Acute Respiratory Disease Control (CDR) was held in Geneva from 3 to 7 April 1995. Xn the absence of the Director-General and the responsible Assistant Director-General the meeting was opened by Dr J. Tulloch, Director of the Division of Diarrhoea1 and Acute Respiratory Disease Control. Professor A.S. Muller, Chairman of the 1994 AFEI Programme TAG, assumed chairmanship of the meeting. Dr S. Lie, Chairman of the 1994 CDD Programme TAG, served as co-chairman. The provisional agenda was adopted without amendment. The rationale for combining the TAGS of the CDD and MI Programmes into a single entity was briefly reviewed by the chairman. There was general agreement that this was likely to be a worthwhile change but that it should be evaluated during the meeting and a recommendation made accordingly.
