PREFACE The review of work representing the United States c o n t r i b u t i o n an Manganese and i t s Compounds i n Relation to Health, 1967-1973, has not i n every instance been r e s t r i c t e d t o t h i s seven-year period. E a r l i e r work was sometimes c i t e d f o r t h e purpose o f providing c l a r i t y t o the subject matter under discussion. Many important foreign references were omitted, i n accordance w i t h i n s t r u c t i o n s , i n order t o p r i m a r i l y r e s t r i c t this c o n t r i b u t i o n t o a n a t i o n a l l e v e l . We wish t o f u l l y acknowledge the importance of non-U.
