The WHO Task Group for the Environmental Health Criteria for Methylene Chloride met in Brussels from 19 to 22 September, 1983. Professor A. Lafontaine opened the meeting and welcomed the participants on behalf of the host government, and Dr M. Mercier, Manager, IPCS, on behalf of the heads of the three IPCS co-sponsoring organizations (ILO/WHO/UNEP). The Group reviewed and revised the second draft criteria document and made an evaluation of the health risks of exposure to methylene chloride. The efforts of Dr G.J. Van Esch and Dr T. Vermeire, who were responsible for the preparation of the draft, and of all who helped in the preparation and the finalization of the document are gratefully acknowledged.
