Introduction: This list presents the grants, interagency and cooperative agreements, contracts, and fellowships awarded by the National Institute of Justice (NIJ) during fiscal year 1999. The awards reflect research, evaluation, training, dissemination, and technical support projects, including those supported by the Violent Crime Control and Law Enforcement Act of 1994 (the Crime Act) and those conducted in partnership with other Federal agencies. An annual open solicitation for proposals invites investigators to initiate research and evaluation in broadly defined topic areas; more focused solicitations are issued throughout the year on specific topics and programs, including those emphasized by the Crime Act.
