Before we talk about downloading eBooks, let’s take a brief moment to investigate some of the exciting ways to discover eBooks and other resources in our library. First, our eBook Finder which is located in the upper right part of the browser window. This is a great tool for finding interesting resources quickly. Simply type in a search term and tap search. Below our eBook Finder tool is a collection of video tutorials, like this one, taking you step by step through many other useful features of our library. Now that we’ve had a brief overview of the homepage, let’s get started: If you’d like to browse for a book, scroll back to the top of the page and select the books tab from the main menu. This will take you to the “eBook Library Collections page.” Select anyone of our collections to continue browsing for a book. On the other hand, if you’re looking for a specific book or resource, you can search for it using the “eBook finder tool.” Today I’m going to search for one of my personal favorites, “Hamlet” by William Shakespeare. The eBook finder tool will help make author title and article suggestions based on the information entered in If you see something of interest, feel free to select it, if not, continue with your search. This brings us to the search results page which includes eBooks, articles and other resources. You can filter through the type of resource you’re looking for by using the Refine Your Search bar located on the left side of the page. When you find the resource you’re looking for, tap the resource image or title to load the “book details page.” Tapping once will display information regarding your selection such as author, publisher, file size, and the collection your book belongs to. Tap a second time to load the book details page. If you scroll through the book details page, you can see your book has already opened and is available to read immediately. the area to the right of your book contains options for translating the text into other languages like Chinese like French. like Danish The tabs above your book contain author title and subject information relevant to your book in the form of encyclopedia articles These articles are supplied by World Heritage Encyclopedia. If you keep scrolling down the page, you will also see additional resources related to the current book you are viewing. To add this eBook to your device for viewing when not connected to the internet, scroll to the top of the page. The World Public Library gives you several options for saving your ebook including Google Drive and Dropbox, but for now, lets save this book directly to our iPad by tapping the eBook’s cover. A fullscreen copy of the eBook will load. On the top menu, tap Open in iBook. If you do not see the Open in iBook option, tap anywhere on the screen once to reveal a hidden menu containing this option. Your book will now be added to the iBook bookshelf on your device. Now you can flip between pages zoom in zoom out and resume reading at a later time. You can adjust the brightness level of the page you’re reading by tapping anywhere on the screen once to reveal a menu , Then tap the brightness icon in the upper right corner of the page. A slider will open allowing you to adjust the brightness level. There are also 2 different ways of viewing the contents of your bookshelf. The shelf view and list view. When viewing your bookshelf, tapping the appropriate icon in the upper left corner of the screen will toggle between these settings. Congratulations, you have successfully added a new eBook to your device. This process also works for other resources in the World Public Library, such as magazines and graphic novels. Audiobooks are available online at anytime, and if your device is able to use zip files, you may also download audiobooks for use when not connected to the internet. Thanks for watching. Until next time, this has been Mia with the World Public Library.
