Description
Description: Kostya and his fellow companion Ludmilla, his dog, go above ground to scout out metal and organic materials. They must avoid being attacked by crumbs, a gentically created organism that feeds off living tissue . Fortunately for Kostya, he makes a huge discovery which may save and restore civilization.

Summary
Summary: Kostya and a small group of civilization are the few that survived the take over of Cumbs; a genetically produced creature that was developed to mine metals and minerals lower than where humans were able to go below surface. After being created, the military saw them as offensive organisms and had Kostya and 50 other scientists to gentically alter them to make them work with civilization. Unfortunately, they unintentionally altered them to consume living tissues to maintain their systems and reproduce. So every dy, Kostya is sent out with his right hand companion and only friend, his dog, to seek out more metal and organic materials above ground among the crumbs. He hikes out seven miles and comes across a new chemical that could hopefully end this entire epidemic all together-Anthrax. Crums by anthrax. If they could confine the crumbs to a designated are, then the would be able to produce foilage and finally rebuild their atmosphere.

Excerpt
Excerpt: On his left side stood metal shelves that rose from the floor and ran to the ceiling, within which rotting wooden cradles held bomb after bomb, their noses painted a brilliant red. On his right side rested stacks of plastic crates. Kostya reached out and lifted the top off one and saw three artillery shells nestled inside, their skins painted flat olive green. A symbol had been stenciled on their sides, and Kostya flicked on his helmet light so he could see more clearly, wiping a thin layer of dust off to reveal words.
