Excerpt: IRS has been selected by the NISH Government Awards Committee to receive the 2004 NISH Government Award for Services. This award is presented annually to a government agency that has performed in an exceptional manner by providing training and employment opportunities for Americans with severe disabilities through the Javits-Wagner-O'Day (JWOD) Program. IRS is being recognized for partnering efforts with ServiceSource for the first-ever nationwide JWOD contract for mail services and the National Telecommuting Institute for handling taxpayer calls for forms and publications which is the first-ever JWOD contract that employs people with disabilities who work from home.
