Description
Antahakaran has four parts: Mind, Intellect, Chit, and Ego. Each one has their distinct functions. At any certain time, only one of them is functional. What is Mind? Mind is made up of nodes. In the previous birth, due to ignorance, anything that we had attachment or abhorrence with, their parmanus collect together and become a node. The node, when comes into action in this birth, is known as a thought. A thought is discharge mind. When a thought comes, the Ego gets completely involved in it. If it hadn’t got involved, then the Mind would have eventually emptied by discharging. The second part of Antahakaran is Chit. The nature of chit is to wander. Mind never wanders. Chit keeps wandering in search of happiness. But since all this worldly happiness is temporary, therefore there never comes an end to its search. So it keeps wandering. After attaining the bliss of Soul, its wandering finally ends. Intellect (buddhi) is the indirect light of the Soul, and pragna is the direct light. The intellect always shows the worldly profits and losses whereas pragna always shows the path to Liberation. Mind is over the senses, intellect is over mind, ego is over the intellect, and Soul is above all of them. Intellect listens to either of the mind or the chit and then takes a decision and Ego being blind, goes according to the intellect. As soon as the Ego approves, the task begins to take place. The one who does Ego is the sufferer, he doesn’t do anything; he just believes that he did it. And at that very moment, he becomes the doer. So now he will have to be the sufferer too. When he attains the right knowledge that evidences are the doer and not me, then he gets off the seat of doer ship and doesn’t bind karmas. The Soul is just the knower and seer and is in eternal bliss. Only Gnani Purush is the one who remains separate from his antahakaran. By residing in their Soul, they can describe its exactness. In this book, Param Pujya Dadashri has given a beautiful and a clear description of Antahakaran.
